WE NEED YOUR HELP TO
AMEND THE TREASURE TROVE ACT

In March 2009, the Nova Scotia Voluntary Planning Heritage Task Force (an agency of the Nova Scotia provincial government which is responsible to the Treasury and Policy Board) recommended to the current Provincial Government that the Treasure Trove Act be repealed. The current NDP Provincial Government is considering implementing that recommendation and they need to hear from you. As a citizen of Nova Scotia you can help stop it and you can help amend both the Treasure Trove Act and the Special Places Protection Act.

Attention Divers

If you are a visiting or local recreational scuba diver and enjoy shipwreck diving here in Nova Scotia, be advised that repealing the Treasure Trove Act will be detrimental to all recreational diving in Nova Scotia.

As a stakeholder and a citizen I would like to share with you some of my personal observations on this subject that I have acquired over the past 25 years as a result of my involvement in the recreational scuba industry, the scuba tourism industry and the private shipwreck exploration industry.

There are a great many inaccuracies and falsehoods being perpetuated by the various government agencies and their misguided followers that need to be clarified and corrected. We encourage you to get informed

There are also serious consequences that repealing the Nova Scotia Treasure Trove Act will have on Nova Scotians and future generations. The first of which will be implicit restrictions a change in the law will have on recreational diving here in Nova Scotia.
